Invisalign®

Invisalign® uses custom-made clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. The aligners are virtually invisible so no one will know you’re undergoing treatment.

Invisalign® can correct a variety of problems, including overbite, underbite, crossbite, gaps between teeth, and crooked teeth. These aren’t purely cosmetic issues—misaligned teeth can cause issues such as tooth decay, gum disease, and difficulty chewing.

You’re in good company when you choose Invisalign®—over 5 million people have used it the more than 20 years it’s been available, including Tom Cruise, Gisele Bundchen, and Oprah.

Dr. Giraldo is an Invisalign® Gold provider. She’s visited Invisalign® headquarters abroad, where she saw first-hand how aligners are made and received specialized training.

How does Invisalign® treatment work?

We capture an image of your teeth using a state-of-the-art digital scanner designed to be used with Invisalign®.

Using the images of your teeth in combination with Invisalign®’s powerful software, we create a custom aligner based on your treatment plan.

Once your custom aligner is ready, you come pick it up and try it on to ensure that it fits perfectly.

You wear your aligner for 20-22 hours a day while undergoing treatment. Aligners are removed for brushing and flossing.

Plan to visit us every 6 to 8 weeks to make sure everything’s going well and to get your next set of aligners.

After about one year, your Invisalign® treatment is done. We provide you with maintenance aligners that you wear only at night to keep your teeth in place.

Who is Invisalign® suitable for?

Tweens, teens, and adults can benefit from Invisalign®.

Adults often prefer Invisalign® to traditional braces because it’s nearly invisible, ensuring that they don’t feel self-conscious about their smile while wearing their aligners.

Tweens and teens also like how Invisalign® looks, while their parents like that it’s easy for kids to brush and floss while undergoing treatment. Compliance indicators mean that parents can check at home to make sure that the treatment plan is being followed.

Is Invisalign better than braces?

Invisalign® and braces are great for improving your smile. Depending on your unique situation, the doctor may have to make that decision for you or refer you to a specialist.

In most cases, you have the option to chose. It all depends on your preferences and commitment to the process. Some of the benefits of Invisalign are:

  1. They’re invisible. The trays use a clear, custom-made thermoplastic material.
  2. You don’t need to make adjustments to your lifestyle. You can practice sports and eat your favorite foods without the concern of getting hurt or breaking wires.
  3. Uses high tech materials and process that makes it possible for the patient to see the expected result and the constant evolution of the treatment.

Is Invisalign® Just About Aesthetics?

It’s normal to think of Invisalign® as a cosmetic dentistry treatment, and it can be. Having a beautiful smile is a self-esteem booster, and let’s be honest; we all like to feel and look good, but Invisalign® isn’t just about aesthetics.

An Invisalign® treatment brings additional benefits like reducing the risk of suffering from chipping, fracturing, and excessive plaque build-up thanks to a properly aligned bite.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

After a consultation, Dr. Giraldo will be able to provide you with specific information about the cost of your personalized Invisalign® treatment plan.

In the U.S., the cost of Invisalign® treatment typically ranges from $3,500 to $8,000, with the national average at about $5,000—comparable to the cost of traditional braces.

If you have dental insurance, it may partially cover the cost of Invisalign®.
